The South Asian Womxn’s Creative Collective (SAWCC) is currently seeking new members to join the SAWCC Board of Directors. This role is a great fit for those hoping to gain experience working with South Asian creatives and are interested in supporting SAWCC with its projects and programs.
SAWCC is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to the advancement, visibility, and development of emerging and established South Asian women, femmes, and nonbinary artists and creative professionals by providing a physical and virtual space to profile their creative and intellectual work across disciplines. SAWCC has been active for 25 years.
JOIN THE BOARD
We are looking for board members who are passionate about our mission and creating a safe space for South Asian women, femmes, and nonbinary creatives to express themselves. The board member role is a voluntary 3-year term. Primary responsibilities for board members include program/event curation and organizing, fundraising, administrative work, board development, and strategic planning for the future of the organization. Being on the board is a great way to immerse yourself in the South Asian creative community and make connections.
Board members should be able to commit to monthly board meetings, commit 5-10 hours a month to SAWCC, enjoy working collaboratively, and be able to adjust themselves to the diverse needs of SAWCC.
We’re looking for folks who want to develop experience or apply their skills in public programming in the arts, fundraising, grant writing, communications, community outreach and development, money management, copy editing, nonprofit compliance, and arts admin. Being a board member is great opportunity for professional development, so deep experience or skills in these areas is not necessary, just a willingness to learn and grow.
– have familiarity with WordPress, HTML, and CSS and can help update our website
– help with writing event descriptions or grants
– have interests or expertise in discipline-specific areas and want to collaborate on an idea or help organize public programs, such as talks, panels, workshops, performances, readings, screenings, etc.
These are examples of the work we need help with, but we are open to applicants with any qualifications interested in working with SAWCC.
Diverse applicants from groups and communities historically marginalized in South Asia are strongly encouraged to apply.
