Marvelously magical childcare is provided––please RSVP so we can have a kiddo count!

Workshops include: Guided writing, movement, reflection
Topics we will explore: Gender & sexual violence, healing, moving to our own power
Goal: Expand ourselves as powerful individualsand safe communities

Workshop dates: Sundays from 1-3pm on March 30, April 6, April 13, April 20, and April 27
Capacity: 25 participants
Location: Manhattan

To enroll in the workshops, write to movetopower@gmail.com by March 24th.

The workshop co-leaders are writer & anti-violence advocate Purvi Shah and dance choreographer Parul Shah with support from gender justice activist Deesha Narichania.

Participants are encouraged to attend all 5 workshops as they will build as a series. Each participant will be given a small stipend per workshop to enable attendance. There will be an optional open showcase on Sunday, May 4 so that participants who choose to do so can share their creations with family, friends, and a wider public.

We look forward to moving together to our own power to heal and end violence!

Movement to Power is an art and activism project organized by the South Asian Women’s Creative Collective to raise awareness of sexual and gender-based violence issues through public art. In early 2013 SAWCC developed Freedom. Safety. Now! with Parijat Desai and Jaishri Abichandani as a response to the fatal rape of Jyoti Singh Pandey in Delhi, India in December 2012. Movement to Power emerged as part of that response. It has expanded to address issues of women’s sexual freedom and safety, specifically addressing violence in Asian American communities. SAWCC thanks the Asian Women Giving Circle for their support and funding for this project.
